journlists are very underated, do anyone know the kind of work they have to do, yes there ruthless and yes they sumtimes take thingsout of context but either way they are doing there job, and doing it well. they only print the story they have been told.
however polotitions only care for two things, money and power
why spend millions on campaining for a £60,000 a year job? oh and a house of course

Journalists aren't low. They are doing a job, some of them do it well some don't. At the end of the day newspapers are there to make money and the individual journalists don't set the papers political and social agenda. The exectutives do based on there own interests which is heavilly biased toward wahat will sell papers.
If you want the truth the general public are the low ones. If we didn't read the stuff that was printed they wouldn't write it. We all love to moralise about the evil journalists when we are the ones creating a market for the stuff they write. I think it's known as hypocracy.
Oh and my wifes a journallist. She writes for a local paper called the 'darlington & stockton times'. It's a very good paper and not at all like the tabloid rubbish. Perhaps you should engage your brain before typing and not tar all journallists with the tabloid brush.

Pretty even. My opinion, journalists have become scum. The media has made stars of people like Paris Hilton. Really would anyone care about her if there were not news outlets taking pictures of her every move? The left bent to the media in the US has made villians of the people trying to defend us. Embedded reporters spring to life when things are looking bad on our guys but could care less when Iraqis' thank our guys fore restoring electricity and water that had been gone since Saddam's reign. (I have a friend who's brother was in just such a unit - he was bewildered by the journalists actions) They give more than 15 minutes of fame to sociopaths like John Mark Karr. I think the media cares more about trashy news than the people they claim to be serving. Real news is mostly relegated to the side bar.

I believe politicians start off with good intentions and become corrupted.
There are some excellent journalists but unfortunately we want to read sensational crap so someone will go out and write it.
Remember seeing a programme where a journalist was interviewing a family who believed their son had been abducted by aliens and returned to them as a "fish finger". They kept him in the freezer and brought him out on special occasions. I wondered how the journalist could want to cover such a story but i suspect it pays more than covering a war.

I'm starting to wonder what the definition of journalism is. Rather than hard facts it seems to be based more on hearsay and rumour. In the recent case of the family on holiday in Corfu who were overcome by carbon monoxide leaving 2 children dead I was amazed at the reporting on it. Talk that theremay have been a suicide pact and that the couple had argued the night before. All this while the couple are laying ill in hospital and the mother of the children is left distraught not knowing what is happening back home.
Reporters have a duty to report fact not hearsay.

i think politicians are lower than journalists, because they don't tell you the truth. Atleast journalists write their opinion instead of editing it to make it what they think you WANT to hear.

journalists arent that low, they are responsible to thier editors who are responsible for what gets into print not the journaolist themselves, the editors in return are responsible to shareholders who decide the type of story goes into the paper, also there are lots of frequently used laws controlling what is printed eg libel keeping journalism honest, politicians have few controls other than journalists catching them breaking the law
