Phone the store and ask for a quote, you need a reformat and clean install.

I think if you take it to PC world or other participating stores, it'll be about £70.
At home its more expensive. Don't let them install Norton or anything, get this free software;

You need to install one firewall.
The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out. Both these firewalls are free for personal use and stop unwanted incoming and outgoing traffic.

http://www.opera.com/ Opera web browser
Instal both these web browsers, turn off javascript on one and use that browser for vising unknown websites. They don't support Active X so thats one less way for problems to get on your pc.

You need to install one anti virus;

http://www.avast.com - Avast Antivirus

You need all three anti spyware programs;
http://www.ewido.net - AVG(Ewido) anti trojan.
http://www.lavasoft.com - Ad-Aware SE Personal anti adware
http://www.safer-networking.org - Spybot Search and Destroy anti spyware

And these are useful utilities;

Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.

Remember to update and run all of you anti malware programs at least once a week.

ok, so I know exactly what your problem is. I did a little reserach and it just came to me like as if I were calling a dog. Anyway, enough with the nonsence. Your Instalation of what ever opperating system you use has been hacked by somebody in the world. That same thing happened to me over the summer. I relized that my brother had taken the disc that I used to install my opperating system and I could not get into my computer. So all you need to do is call up the company you are currently using and explain to them what had happened. They should than give you access to your computer once again thus sloving your computer disfunction. Now the keyboard thing is a different story but is quite simple to solve actually . If you take a quick ride to your local coputer providers, ask them for keyboard air spray or what not. You can clean out your computer by spraying it under the keys so all that gunk gets out of there. If not not you can also ask them to take a quik look at it as it may be a seriouse problem. If you need any other advise just give me a quick email explaining your problem. Thank you very much for reading this. And if this does not work for you, please do not hesitate to e-mail me.

At this point you have now other option other than reformatting and reinstalling windows. Be sure to reformat too or you'll still have that virus. I'm not being cocky but you need to learn patience dude. If you'd been patient enough to scan your download file/song/whatever for viruses to begin with, you wouldn't have this problem. And it you'd been patient enough to remove the virus the correct way, you'd still be running smooth. You can't System Restore to remove a virus. All that does it moves the virus to ALL restore points and then by not letting it fininsh, well, you see what happened. Just be patient dude, next time you download something, scan it for viruses BEFORE you open/play it. And don't email me and tell me you DID scan it first because dude it you did then you wouldn't have a virus. Good luck to ya :-)

You will need to reinstall your operating system. Sorry, this means you will lose your programs and data files. If you do not already do this, make sure you regularly back up your key files. This will save you a lot of time and headaches in the future. Also, make sure that you have current antivirus protection and a firewall. For freeware versions of these, and excellent information about computers, you can go to: www.Komando.com. Best of luck.

Laptop or Computer!?!

Firstly you didn't need to backdate your system. If you can log in to your system at all, update your antivirus (by doing a manual download from another system and use a memory stick to update) and kill it off.

If that don't work, get your Recovery Disk and recover your boot sector and key windows files. So you want to boot from that disk.

If that don't work, plug your harddrive to another system, preferably a secure PC with an up-to-date antivirus and antispyware. If it is a laptop hard drive then get a hard drive enclosure. Now you can disinfect your hard drive.

The worst case is to re-install your system. But you can plug the hardrive to another machine (as mentioned above) and backup your files.

Really, really, really bad idea to have turned off your machine while it was attempting to go back to a restore point.

It probably wasn't going to work anyway but turning off a machine trying to do that is pretty going to ensure a corrupted OS.

As above I am pretty sure you are looking at having to format your hard drive and do a clean install now.

Sorry for the bad news.

well, try to boot in safe mode, install any decent antispy and antivirus, try www.ewido.net/en/download and Kaspersky
delete all previous restore points, right click on C, properties, disk cleanup, more options-restore point-clean

that should 100% work with you
if NOT, drop me a line, and we'll go to plan B

Enjoy

Windows is correputed and unfortunatly all data is probably lost.

If you have nothing of importance - then just reinstall windows.

If you do have documents you want to try and get back - then i surgest a trip to your local Computer Shop.
