If you are married and faithful, a good choice for you may be one of the IUDs, either the Copper-T or the Mirena. They aren't recommended for nonmonogamous types, since getting certain STDs while wearing them is dangerous. Either of them are more than 99.5% effective.

If you don't want children ever/anymore, since you still have probably between 5-15 years before you hit menopause, you may want to consider tubal ligation or else vasectomy (for your partner). Essentially foolproof, and permanent.

If you've had kids, use an IUD. If you haven't had kids use the Yasmin pill, its great with the least side effects. Plus if you want to make absolutely sure not to get pregnant, use condoms too alongwith these other options.

Birth control is a risk at your age, increased chance for stroke, and blood problems can develop, I would suggest seeing a physician for proper suggestion.

Have your husband get a vasectomy! They don't even need to make an incision anymore. It is an out-patient procedure. No swimmers = no little brats!
