Good question.

I think I would say potentially, yes. It a huge energy of greed, really. And it seems so large and overshadowing, that it is difficult at times to live a "spiritual" life, or I could call it a life that empowers the soul. It is very prevalent in our culture, and seems to be everywhere. Sometimes the alternative does not seem available.

Some are strong and unaffected. But many are not.

I think it has had a negative affect on the soul and as you mentioned the environment.

However, even socialism had negative affects on those two things... and many more.

The fact is, capitalism allows more people access to the good things in life. The bad part comes in with the greed that can drive capitalism.

What we have to realise is that there is no political or social ideology that will cure all ills in the world. Corruption, deceit and decay are a result of those negative characteristics of humanity. We have the power to rise above the 'bad' if we start taking responsibility for the 'bad' and make good choices with the powers that we hold in our hands.

Capitalism is not to blame for all of the ills in the world. At one point not too long ago in history we were fighting socialism gone bad (Communism) because it had swung out of control. Shifting blame only keeps the problems alive, and allows them to thrive.

By taking responsibility as a human race, banding together to find the balance, we will continue to produce and thrive, and hopefully see a decrease in the negative results of our efforts.

There is no such thing as "global" capitalism. There may be capitalism conducted on a global scale. Capitalism is nothing more than than the free exchange of goods or services for consideration (money). As long as it is not coerced it is the most moral of exchanges. If you want to sell me you car for $5000.00 and I think it's a good deal, we both get what we want, right? When you go to the grocey store and buy groceries you are participating in a capitalist transaction. It is how you feed yourself.
There is nothing inherently immoral about capitalism. Talk to people who have lived under a regime that attempts to eliminate the capitalist model and replace it with socialism. Life becomes a living hell.
Read "Economics For Real People" by Gene Callahan for starters. Start to disabuse yourself of this notion that capitalism is an evil thing.

That is a great question indeed!

Capitalism is a system where for the sake of material efficiency, everything is sacrificed - human values just evaporate into oblivion.

Of course human soul will be damaged beyond recognition by global capitalism - whatever little may be left would be only because of its imperfect implementation.

Capitalism allows the pursuit of wealth. And therefore it creates competition among its community members and wealthier people are considered more successful. Wealth brings the individual power, comfort etc.,

If we consider that our lives are a test of our souls. The souls do not compete for wealth alone. They compete for balance, peace, harmony or the Nirvana to achieve what you desire and just get rid of the cycle of life and death.

Some find in Wealth, some in Health some in Knowledge, some in Community service, some in Duty, some in Faith, some in Arts.

So yes capitalism creates competion for wealth and if your soul chooses to compete in accumulation of wealth and you fail, it is bad for you. But if you compete to gain good health or any of the other paths and you succeed and enjoy your everyday life, your soul will have achieved what it desires.

The smile of the faces of half fed children playing football naked foot in the ground is the reflection of their souls.

Capitalism in its true sense is just survival of the fittest....
Really nothing wrong in it , and it is the nature's law, and will come to stay, one way or the other.
Soul is not affected in any way, by any of the material things, except that unless a person evolves, irrespective of what he does in the outside situation, the soul remains a captive in the ego.

Not much soul in global capitalism. Take and profit. Destroy people's meagre sources of income and their environment and then close the doors to them when the starving come knocking on your door. No room in our inn.

Soul? Could it be affected by the human action? From what I think soul is, I don't think so .

I believe it has become the most popular drug of the soul. It keeps our soul in a catatonic condition, therefore we don't need to worry about its growth of its wishes.

It is bad for the planet, bad for the species, and bad for our humanity.

The commodity is everything, and our sole measure (soul measure?) of everything...
