Yes, as far as I know it's just mopeds that are banned.

ok i know everyone has already told you its legal as you already know, but although it may be legal but as a biker for 20 years i would say its unadvisable unless its a quiet time on the motorway, the reason being although your 125 can keep up with the traffic it lacks the power to accelerate you away from any potential accident and will take you a long time to overtake any slow vehicles. Thus keeping you in the middle lane and vulnerable for longer than necessary. If there is a bit of motorway near you that is only a short stretch and will get you where you want to go quickly locally then i would say fine, but motorways are designed primarily for long distance travel, this means your engine should be able to sustain a reasonable speed whilst cruising at a low rpm. your engine may well get you to 70+ mph but it wont be cruising comfortably it will be at its top speed so more vulnerable to faults occuring if used for a long distance, you should be able to do 70 and there be hardly any strain on the engine if you want to get far on the motorway.
if you are lucky a cg125 in good mechanical condition should cruise at about 50 - 55 for a long journey 200 miles +

Yes, it's perfectly legal. Any vehicle under 50cc (with a design speed not exceeding 30mph) is classed as a moped and therefore not allowed on the motorway - and some specific A roads. Any thing over 50cc is classed as a motorbike and is allowed on the motorway.

The Highways Agency Patrol Officers have no right to advise you not to use it on the motorway - they can get stuffed.

First, the highways agency are not the police and can only pass advice. the legal requirement for a motorcycle is over 50cc but the police can ask you to leave the motorway for your own safety and that of others. normally if you are riding too slow or because of weather and road conditions. Good luck

It's perfectly legal, provided you have a full licence. The only restriction is for mopeds of 50cc or under. Stuff the Highways Agency. let them try and bring a prosecution, and they'll look like right numpties when they fall flat on their faces.

Don't take any notice of these new 'hobby-bobbies' driving around on motorways either (Highways Agency Support staff, or whatever they are called). They're all loonies, and full of sh*it, driving around pretending to be policemen.

It's not illegal, but the highways agency probably said that for your own safety. A wee CG125 is almost invisible amongst the other traffic. Anyway, 75mph out of a CG125? I sat my test on one of them and it only did 65mph!

Yes it's perfectly legal. As stated elsewhere and in your original question anything over 50cc is allowed.
What's the highways maintenance agency got to do with it and how did they contact you with their duff information?

personally I think you'd be mad to take that on the motorway. The best thing to do is pop into your local police station and ask them or to ask a traffic officer as they are the ones that dish out the tickets and points

Go for it. Check with your local Police station but I guess it would be okay.

Of course lest we forget that you'd be taking your life into your hands. We car drivers don't really like you two wheeled folk. And its only the threat of prison which stops us driving you into a ditch.

Think about this carefully before you get on your little buzz box.
