I CAN PROTECT YOUR SOFTWARE,
from getting pirated as I have done in
the past.
Your software has got to be copywrited
with the Ministry of HRD. Once this is
registered as an original work, then
you become the actual owner and any
one copying it, can be put to jail. There are
no provisions for bail.
The source code in coded form is to
be supplied to them,( in a sealed) hard
disk. The sealing has to be done by
the owner himself. It has to be ensured
that your source code is camaflouged
in such a fashion, that you only can
decifer it, when you have to prove
your point of copyrighting your original
work.
Copyright Act is valid throughout the
world, as most of the developing/ed
countries are signatories to the Burn
Convention held at Geneva.

make it addional registration process
when customer install ur products from cd and starts first time to use. it must generate some specail nuber coding so that u can receive the Insalltion id, hard disk number, opeating sytem information. etc.. on the basis of it u issue him working profile number and after feeding that number softare will become operatbale then u can maintain that who is suer is it true copy or he is purchasing one version and instlling in multiple location.etc... good process normally all new software has same thing as process . use asp . net pogramming and encypt ur data then no body would be able to creep this process

It depends on the product what the best thing to do is, and without knowing more (the amount of work you invested, the amount of support you offer, your market...) I can't try. But you might want to consider other possibilities like releasing shareware. Sometimes relying on people's honor works well. And sometimes not :-(

There are so many third party software avilable. google it. u will get it. basically they will have some kind of token concept. when the program runs it identifies the token installed (which is read only and cannot be copied) and runs only if it is valid. or u can put a counter check in the program.
