yes and no taxes will reduce the amount of goods and services we consume, this will reduce the amount of green house gases given off. however there are numerous other things the goverment can do for example they can make all new houses have to have solar panels or a water recycling system or wind turbines.

Exactly right! There are just as many arguments against this so called 'proof' as there are for!!
For just a rough idea (if any one can be bothered) type in climate change in the little yahoo search for questions box at the top of this page and check it out!!
Now the latest 'scam' in the UK is to more than double the parking charges on 4x4 cars, or any 'gas guzzler'! To discourage people from using them? Will this stop people driving them? I don't think so, if I can afford to pay 25 grand for a 'gas guzzler' or my company buys me one, then either I or my company can afford to pay the extra charges, its an expense down to the company and comes off the taxable profit anyway, so what a waste of time!!
And where does that money go?? Certainly not on better roads and car parks!!
Yes I agree 100% a massive rip off.
Climate change my a55!!
Tree huggers should wear a little badge saying 'I'm a believer, I'll pay' (MUGS)!!!
Well I certainly feel a lot better now!!
Since writing this I was watching UK tv news, China builds a new coal fired power plant every 10 days!!! So increasing the parking charges in the UK will certainly make a large difference wont it??
Is every one mental??

It's a scam to get more money from us to make up the so-called "losses" in the economy. It was the government's responsibility (and still is) to cut emissions and find alternative means of providing energy.
I in no way see any visible (direct) link between the economy and the global climate change. Besides that, the government has already increased taxes in many areas that relate to climate change such as road tax. There has also been the addition of the congestion charge (bit harsh in London as the area of charge has increased).
It's sad really, another excuse to make more money which doesn't get used in the necessary areas.... The NHS is the best example.

firstly I´d like to say that climate change has always happened, its isn´t just something that has started now! Climate and the earths weather system arn´t some predictable thing that stays the same always!! Vulcanic erruptions, comets hitting the earth and solar storms are a few things which affect the earth more than our polution.
Secondly the whole world economy is a race to use all the resources as fast as we can to make a quick profit for the few.
Unless you stop these power and wealth hungry people raping our world for thier own benifit nothing will change.
How many people would risk loosing thier job by refusing to working in polution creating companies?
How many people would stop driving about, using cars?
How many people would resort to growing thier own food because the supermarkets & shops won´t have anything nto sell if the trucks are to stop moving & polluting?
These things have to happen if the climate is going to have the chance to heal itself.

There are so many conflicting reports about this, its hard to decide WHICH is true!! A radio programme which I was listening to this morning, claims that "science" does not prove this 100%!!! Are these taxes to be worldwide?? There are other countries, who are bigger polluters than the UK,which do not appear to worry about it!! The UK cannot right the planet alone!! So, we end up,once again, being the only country paying huge taxes, whilst other countries continue to pollute? Until ALL countries that produce massive pollution join in,I fear this is just another tactic, by the UK,Government to squeeze us for more taxes!! Not only that,as its going to be "sold" by Al Gore,he gets a job!!!!! As this Government has proved,it cannot be trusted,I have to ask, would the extra taxes be actually used for this specific purpose? Past experiences of tax rises for "specific purposes" have, in this country, been used for other things!!! The saying, "rip off Britain" did not come from nowhere!!

How is raising taxes going to cure the problem of climate change? People still need to get to work and a few more pence on petrol etc wont stop them. It will however line the governments purse. It will not be spent of climate change issues but things that they are making an ar*e of at the moment. The government are ruining this country. And we are destroying the planet. All too soon a time will come where its too late and we will be looked on as the generations that destroyed the world. No other animal in the world except paracites destroy their host. That makes us no better than paracites feeding of planet earth until its dead. Then we die! The sooner Bush realises this the better, muppet!

I am at a total loss to work out how higher taxes will stop climate change , if we have to pay more taxes then surely we will have to do more work to raise the money to pay them , consequently more work more energy more immisions et etc , the answer must lay in the developement of better mechanical and industrial technology so that we wont be able to contribute to the problem by using any of the resources that are currently available to us .

Chargind people more for carbon emissions doesn't necessarily reduce them, it just makes them more expensive! Nobody minds paying a little more for the sake of their own future, but making it expensive to pollute doesn't stop it happening. We ALL need to take responsibility, and that means lifestyle changes that most people aren't willing to accept. Car-sharing, public transport, fewer holidays, seasonal foods - the most concerned environmentalists still drop into the supermarket for a bunch of bananas that has flown half way round the world to get there. We need a total overhaul of our western lifestyle now, and what government can risk trying to enforce that?
What do we as individuals need to see to decide to change? Droughts in Africa? Melting Icecaps? An increase in skin cancer? A total shift in the seasons? Or will it not be until the flood waters encroach on our own back doors that we finally realise that we should have taken responsibility ourselves.

No it's just another anti goverment scare mongering tactic by the media. I do agree however that a lot more can be done without increasing taxation like using the magnificent waterway network that we have. Heavy loads can be moved with just one horse and the only gas produced is from it's rear end, its fuel is definately renewableand it's waste benefits the ecology no end. So, it takes a little longer but look at the benefits to the environment.

Where is the scientific evidence, many scientists agrue that it doesnt. Its just another way for the politicians to get the money from our pockets. Why tax one country and not tax all?One country doesnt control the climate of the world. And since the damage to the ozone layer is uncorrectable, how is taxing people going to resolve the so called problem? If you look in a farmers almanac you will see that weather has a history of repeating itself throughout the decades.

a million) through fact worldwide Warming replaced into shown to be pretend, climate substitute is a scam, and the persons who solid their votes or make judgements have finally caught on. 2) through fact anybody with a ideas is on the information superhighway and has cottoned directly to the theory that green is the recent pink. they are going to use something, even the atmosphere, to tax or get rid of your rights and freedoms. 3) through fact the entire theory of a central authority run by potential of people like Al Gore who can't even administration his very own "urges" working or controlling the international's climate is preposterous. how plenty money has that bastard made merchandising "green credit" in line together with his stupid concept?! China remains getting a loose pass on polluting the entire planet jointly as human beings are regulated on what type of bathroom or easy bulbs they use? WTF?! that's why. through fact we believe the mendacity POSs in cost approximately so some distance as we can throw them— that's none too some distance.
