Similarities:
Homer wrote the tale (epic) ILIAD.
1)In it, Homer shows Achiles and Hector the best warrior of thier city.
2)Both were very good.
3)Both loved thier family more than themselves.
4)Both did not get to be too long with thier love/spouse.
5)Both were sons of mortal men.
Difference:
1)Achilles was selfish.
2)Hector was the son of King Priam and Queen Hecuba
3)Achilles was the son of sea nymph King Thetis and Queen Peleus.
4)Achilles was made immortal by his mother by dipping him in the river Styx.
5)Achilles was born in Greece whereas hector was born in Troy.

They are different because Hector fought for his country, Achilles was a mercenary, he fought for the love of fighting. Achilles was a son of the gods, Hector, a mortal man.
They are the same because they were both born and bred to be warriors. They showed honor and respect on the battlefield.

Achilles,because his mother held him by his ankle when he was diped into the river Styx's,could not be killed except in that one spot, his ankle, had a major advantage in his fight with Hector.
Hector and Achilles were both experts in the art of killing. Great warriors of an Epic era.
