Try to take frequent breakks, especially when you get tired. Instead of guzzling caffeine-loaded coffee and energy drinks, go outside for a few minutes, and get some fresh air. It works great when it's cold. Wakes you right up. Take a short jog up and down your street if you have to.
But like these other people say - cramming is not a good idea. You'll only end up forgetting more than you've learned.

Always get plenty of rest. Try not to party the weekend before exams, if you do, drink a little not a lot.
At some point, all-nighters cease to be effective in studying. For tests, your brain works best after sleeping (sleep gives it a chance to go over the "wiring" of memory a couple of times while you dream). I think it's best to study as much as you can, then catch five hours of sleep, then get up and finish studying. If you get up at 4 or 5 am, there is little noise in the dorm, house, Denny's etc, wherever you go to study.
I only pulled an all-nighter twice in my entire 4 1/2 years of college; one was for an essay final, which I got a "C" on, the other was for a 4-person project which we all pulled the all-nighter to get it all done, which we did get an "A" on.
To keep alert during studying, take a five to ten minute break after every 55 minutes. Do a brisk walk around the campus (get fresh air, get fresh blood in the lungs and brain) and drink lots of water. Your brain needs the water because of all the glucose it uses while you study hard. Eat energy bars (but not the ones with all the sugar, try Kashi). Keep the temp in your room turned down to prevent grogginess.
Sometimes a "quick" 20 minute nap will make you very alert for an additional couple hours of studying. For me, though, if I took a 20, I'd be out for an hour or more....yikes !
Hope this is the info that you need, if so, please rate it. Thank you.

First of all cramming never makes you smarter.
If you study a little bit every single day, you won't need to do that. Wow. What a concept.
Those energy drinks are only a temporary solution. When it is time to take your tests you will not remember a thing. This up and coming test is a lost cause. Make it a point to start studying daily. Don't be the village idiot of your class. It may be funny now, but when your friends graduate and you don't it won't be.

I've learned that actually studying in short sessions within 24-48 hours after classes have helped me quite a bit, rather than waiting till the night before an exam. When I leave one class and get to the other, I always have a few minutes before professor arrives, so I crank out my notes from previous class and go over them. When I am home or wherever, I randomly go through my notes of the day again. I don't try to CRAM everything in.
Remember the rule about doing things 21 times and then it's a habit....continue going over your notes in short sessions, and it'll stick with you. You'll be amazed!!
Lay off the caffeine, that'll only make it worse, and the withdrawls are hell! (at least for me)
Good Luck with your studies!

When I have to pull an all nighter, I do jumping jacks or run around the block. If you have a roommate like I do, jumping jacks aren't the quietest thing to do, but it definitely wakes both of us up. Running around the block also does the trick. Yes it may be 2 or 3 or even 4 in the morning, but a quick sprint around the block will liven me up.
Just getting out of the chair/bed/study area to do something will help circulate the blood.

I find that excersizing and eating right is a HUGE help when you're studying hard. it just energises you naturally so there's no need for those "stay awake" products. Excersize is good cos it not only energises you by getting your blood flowing - it also makes you feel happy cos of the endorphans!

sounds silly but go for a quick jog. Energy drinks will only give you the shakes after a while and make you feel ill, get moving and drink tea and water and you'll feel a whole lot better.
