IDE Stands For Integrated Device Electronics.
IDE is 40 pin port on your mother board whre u can attach Hard Disk, CD - ROM drive, DVD ROM Drive, DVD Combo, CD Writer , DVD Writer, Tape Drive, Zip Drive (Both 100Mb as well 250 MB).
On Normal MotherBoard Minimum 2 IDE Ports are there called as IDE1 and IDE2 on every IDE port you can attach 2 device at same time by making one as Primary and Secondary. Its just case of jumper setting that it becomes the opertable drive.
