take a copy of the proof of postage and your receipt for the item i.e a bill that shows what you paid in full. Then ask for compensation for an item not delivered. If you have any future problems your have to write off to royal mail and fill in a claim form.

You say that you have proof of postage but did the Seller offer insurance coverage and if so did you accept and pay for it?
If no insurance then you may never receive your purchase.
NB For all people out there, when a box is delivered never sign for it unless you open and check the contents are correct. I received what should have been 3 Tom Toms car navigators; received 250 expensive envelopes. Seller decided that I should wait until the courier company reimbursed the actual cost he paid and then he would repay me. Dont be put off, the Seller has the responsibility to either provide a replacement or return your money. I played nice guy for 6 months then found a company on the net who would process a small courts claim and charge 12% of the actual money due. Additional costs £180 for processing claim were not subjected to this 12%. Result? Seller did nothing until the court action was delivered by hand and then paid up. If he had a judgement against him then his credit rating is lost and banks steer a wide berth.
Regards

I am an Ebay seller, this has happened a few times with me. Go to the post office and pick up a lost items form, fill it in and send it along with your proof of postage. It will take approx 3 weeks, but you'll recieve a cheque of reimbursement from them. Hope this helps.

If the seller gave the option to insure the items shipping and you did not take it then, unfortunately I think you have lost it. If the option was not offered then ebay will follow up your claim and you should be ok. If the seller just refuses to sort it out then ebay will throw him off, but you will lose out. If you payed via Paypal you should also lodge a clain wiht them, as they give you sokme protection agains this sort of thing.

log in to your paypal and make the dispute into a claim but hurry as you only have about 20 days until it will close it self and it's the seller that needs to do a claim with the post office not you.

How has the seller proved postage? If the seller has a recipt then they must chase it up with the post office as to where it has gone.

YOU CANNOT CLAIM OF ROYAL MAIL!
ONLY THE SENDER CAN MAKE A CLAIM USING A P58 FROM P.O.COUNTERS
It seems to me the sender has not sent it!
If you paid with pay pal they will return your money to a safe account until dispute is finalised.
