The washing machine is a tad worry. It always has water in the bottom pump. If that freezes it can break it. It is plastic. If you also plugged in a small heater near the bottom of the washer it would keep it from freezing, but that would be a little expensive to run. Your freezer would not be hurt in cold weather, just wouldn't run very much. Hey, you have a trade off. The electricity you save could run the very small heating unit.

On the water supply liknes use a Circulateing System. This is basically just an inline pump. Plumbing Suplies and Hardware Stores carry them. They are oft used to keep Hot Water at the Tap/Faucets, but can be used on the Cold Water line also. The Hot Water lines freeze before the Cold Water lines do.
Its like the Hot water makes Ice faster, or the fact that the pipes expand and contract so much because of the temptature changes on the Hot Water lines they become unstable.
I am in NW Florida and was a Plumber for a few years.
The Constant Circulateing Lines are great for many things other than just freeze protection, instant fresh hot water, instant fresh cold water, and no freezing of pipes because the water is moveing.

Freezer:
i keep my fridge outside, under cover, close to the house, so it doesn't get too frosty & it has worked for last 3-4 years
it is getting a bit rusty (prob. condensation when it is cold) so i guess it will look pretty tacky soon but it still works
fridges & freezers have a min./max. temp. range, so you might think about that
you could insulate your garage & (say) have a small heater for when it is frosty - of course the freezer emits heat so that might help
Washing Machine:
pipes freezing could be a real problem, but i guess that affects any pipes that are above ground - you may need to drain water out of all pipes before it gets frosty

Freezer will be ok in the garage, but your washer will need some protection if you try to move it out there. The washer will have some water remain in it after running it, and if it freezes, you can crack the pump housing.

Not unless you heat the garage. The pipes will freeze on the washer. The freezer would be ok. That's weird that you have a hook up for washer out there.

My dad had a freezer in his garage for years and it was absolutely fine. Unsure about the washing machine though.

depends where you live, having the freezer in there will help prevent frost, as a freezer produces a lot of heat
