The Bhagavad Gita, the Bible, the Koran, Edith Hamilton's Mythology, and Walden for nonfiction or religious writings.
Slaughter-House Five, The Lord of the Rings, To Kill a Mockingbird, and something by Kafka and Poe would be my favorite fictions.
