The most normal feeling is to feel sad when you look back at all massacres the man commit against his brothers in humanity all over the mankind ages. I feel shame too.

Of course.

I am S'Klallam/Chippewa-Cree and I used to be very angry, when I was in junior high. I refused to go to my social studies class, because the textbooks were so very inaccurate, it sickened me.

They are updating and trying to get the truth out there nowadays...it is a very sad, horrible, disgusting, terrible history, what happened to my ancestors.

You are a good person to empathically connect with the horrors of what happened so long ago.

I feel ya!

yes I'd say one would have good reasons to be sad. many people find it reason enough to be very angry even.

but being as how the world is headed toward global village it would be soooooooo unhealthy to live in the past. first nations of the Americas will be a force to recon with in future because many have caught up with or surpassed societies standards. that is together with so many other nations who were meek (for want of a better expression).

you'll find that first nations persons are becoming prominent in many occupations and careers. that's a good thing. others have made heritage and culture a priority simply because that's what they know best. that is also a good thing.

i have reason to empathize with you and hope that you find a way to be strong and contribute, in your own way, to the future of our nations.

all my relations.

I feel sad. I took a couple classes on Native American history. It was disgusting how they were treated.

Yeah it's sad. It's also sad how they treated the Africans.

But, im not white so, i cant say i feel guilty about it personally, but I do feel crappy about how people treat each other in general.

It's like...will we ever learn?

Hell yeah! It just shows that you acknowledge the past with the thoughts and knowledge of today. If we could go back in time and undo what was done with what we know today I'm sure no one would object...
