In the last 5 years, I have been to France (mainly Cote d'Azur and Paris) over 100 times on business. I work and socialise with a lot of French people and I can't say that the majority of the people I am in contact with dislike the Brits - in fact, having spoken to many French people about which nationalities we like and dislike, I would say they dislike the Americans the most. Also, even though my French is quite good, in the majority of cases, they seem to prefer to speak English - whilst they are very proud of their language, and want to preserve its purity, they are generally very pragmatic and understand that English is the dominant language in the world (especially in business) and they want to take every opportunity to practise with a native speaker.

It is not really true.
Sure you will find individuals who don't not like the British, just as you will find individual Brits who sat they 'hate' the French, mostly Brits who don't speak French, never go there except to buy cheap booze or watch Rugby matches.
But I live there and I speak French and we have much more in common with them than we do the Americans.
Sure there is national rivalry, go to an international Rugby match to experience it, and there are differences but remember we share the same history. . for a long time our Royal family was French. . you might argue that a lot of the wars between us were more in the nature of civil wars.
If you find a French waiter being rude to you (usually) in Paris, can you honeslty argue you have never come across a rude British waiter?

Stop thinking national stereotypes. . we are all in this mess together.

i guess history says it all how some people see eachother. Large parts of France used to be English property but the French won the wars with the help of the Bourgondy (not sure of the translation). The English lost all they had in france in 30 years except for Calais. It was in great part thanks to Jeanne D'Arc during the battle of Orleans in 1429. Nobody likes to lose from a teenage girl.... There have been many wars between both countries but i think today is a different story in how they see eachother in general, things have changed...

I didn't know they didn't. I have recently had an argument with my boyfriend who, although he has never been there or met vast amounts of them, hates the French. I love them and I love France. My sister used to hate the French until I took her to Paris and everyone we met was soooooo nice and friendly and helpful. Every time they thought we were American they were rude but as soon as they found out we were English they couldn't get enough of us.

As far as I am aware they DO like us and I DO like them.

I hate Spain and Spanish people though (based solely on my own experience of them).

they have not got the style of socialism that the U.S. and eastern Europe had. it relatively is relatively capitalism with some social secure practices nets that they are able to greater or much less have sufficient money because they are no longer consistently attempting to police the worldwide and impose their will on others. besides the undeniable fact that, i'm afraid additionally they have knowledgeable and relatively civilized populations. if that they had our wild inhabitants to handle i'm uncertain they'd proceed to grant such great cradle to grave amenities. They do have as plenty (Italy)or greater (the others) freedom than US individuals, yet we will not in simple terms pass there and stay except we are independently wealthy. they like their very own and does no longer relatively enable us to in to stay and artwork. i think of there is desire now with Obama that the u . s . will take somewhat step to being somewhat greater like Canada and relatively much less like a third worldwide dictatorship. yet reactionaries screaming "socialism" have no concept what they are speaking approximately and spot the worldwide in black and white. there are a number of hybrid structures interior the progressed worldwide, and that all of them are doing in simple terms positive. If those reactionaries relatively need to get rid of all social courses interior the U. S., we will quickly replace into very third worldwide. enable them to all pass to Kansas or Oklahoma and start up a theocracy and spot how nicely they do.
