It happens, but make adjustments cause it WILL be installed on every SP2 Win2000,WinXP and WinVista.

That said, everyone should upgrade to IE 7 when offered the chance, even if you never intend to use it. Because Internet Explorer is so tightly bound within Windows XP SP2 (for example, if you view an HTML document in Microsoft Word, you're using IE technology), it's better to have the improved code within IE 7 running on your system than not. But for a truly secure Internet browser with more features, we still recommend Mozilla Firefox.

http://del.icio.us/tag/IE7 << Fact is, if you use windows XP,SP2 it will be installed. eventually. It sits on my desktop and collects virtual dust.
But you can look through the del.icio.us posts and see a few workarounds and fixes, are also at the Microsoft KB. But that changes or moves alot lately, wierd.

two things, have you downloaded the yahoo version? or the original version from Microsoft site.
apperantly yahoo version has some problems.
did you have any previous version of IE7 like rc version or the beta 2 or 3. if u had then u will have to uninstall IE7, then uninstall older version of IE7 as mentioned above. and then after restart(recomended) install the IE7 from microsoft official website.
new IE7 is great and is very very secure.
better than firefox which is slowest browser available in the market.
if u still couldnt get it to work, try uninstalling previous version of IE like 6 or 5 or what ever you had, and then install the new one.
hope this will help.

for all further problems refer to http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/category.aspx?bcatid=834&tabid=1&WT.mc_id=1106_01
remember.
IE7 is released by MICROSOFT, you should not have any problems with this browser if you are using windows.
hope this will help you.
Cheers
