Animals are killed in the UK during during many bloodsports like hunting and shooting. What does it say about us as humans? If you were an Alien from outer space would you want to know us?

I know animal cruelty exists all over the work however I live in the UK and it is an issue because of the Hunting Act of 2004.
Have a look at http://www.league.org.uk

When I was young I killed an animal with a shot gun and the memory of the animal dying is burned in my mind. It was not fun for me. Don't tell me to try it because I already have.

The only way that people really stop this behaviour is when they finally see what they are really doing, like you did. Until then, it must be great fun, and I do not think you could stop them. It would have to be forcible, and that usually makes people more determined.
I saw it too, and I stopped eating meat. I still apologise to cows for our shocking barbarity. We raise them simply to cut them to bits in machines and eat them. At least the hunter looks his victim in the eye. I am not very proud of my team. I may be an alien.

Animals are killed just about everywhere, the UK the US, Canada, France, Spain etc... etc...
For both fun and food .
Whether this is right or wrong is a matter of your moral viewpoint.
With the issue of the aliens though, assuming they would be observing a range of different species, they would probably arrive to the conclusion that like many animals, humans have a strong hunting instinct.
What would probably be more alarming to them, is not what we do to animals, but what we do to each other and the earth in general.

According to the Bible killing animals for fun is not justified, we were originally put here to take care of the Earth which would included the animals. It was only after the flood that we were given permission ta eat the animals. Never does the Bible endorse hunting just for"fun". Genesis 1:26-30,9:3

It's not so much the hunters that bother me. They're usually pretty responsible, only killing the slower or weaker, permits and stuff.
What scares me are the ones who leave animals mutilated and mauled for no apparent reason other than they enjoy torturing them. These are the ones who become killers.
We allow humans to be treated badly. We kill each other. We have the resources to make sure EVERYONE on this plant has medical care and food, but it doesn't happen. I think the Aliens would find that far more disturbing.....

They most likely have been taught this idea from childhood. So to them it is not merciless killing it is "SPORT".
Evidently you speak not of hunting for the sake of providing food, but rather hunting just for the sake of the kill.
Sad indeed. It shows a lack of respect.
I don't know how to stop it and if I were an alien looking at this world, I would be leering of exposing myself to the hazards here.

the problem is that rich people think and know that they can do what they want and no if i was an alien i wouldn't wanna know a race that kills for fun also killing for fun says that humans don't care about other living things or the world so aliens will think we are a waste of time.

Dude, are you a vegetarian??? we hunt to put fod on the plates of people. if it wasnt for hunters, some people would starve. Besides, most of the hunting that happens is in controlled environments where breeding programmes are in place. For ever animal we kill, we spare the lives of at least 20 from poacher traps and rival animals...It's a balance that must be maintained. It costs alot of money to hunt and that money is out into programs to save those animals. The heads are often kept as trophy's, but the bodies feed people... And dont think i am a psycho or something. i make sure my animals die clean and quick from high callibre rifles and we make sure we don't miss. Of course we feel sorry for the animals...it's common compassion, but it's respect that people need to eat too. Sure, it's for fun, but there are other reasons... Next time you eat meat, think about it... Cows and sheep and animals that go to slaughter houses are killed in a worse way on large scales than what we do. For every one animal we shoot... approximately 3000 animals such as chickens and cows are slaughtered for food... we are a small part of it, but hunting is brought under the light as being unhumane... Don't ever eat meat and then judge hunters...unless you are a vegetarian, hold your peace!

How do you keep people from killing babies for better jobs? Hmm, the question is just chipping at the beginings of the sad human concept of life.

I live in the south and it makes me sick during deer season when all of the bubbas have a big, bloody deer tied to their front bumper like some kind of gruesome trophy.

I certainly do not approve of those kinds of people - thier argument (especially in England) is that dogs are bred specifically for fox-hunting, and if the sport becomes illegal, then they would have to kill all the hounds..
**what??**
