I believe the best answer to your question is that we should do both. We do whatever good things they ask us to do and they should lead by example. In the real world however, its rather a utopic idea that people will do good and the governement leads by example. To some part of the world, there are still good people who do good and lead through example so don't lose hope.

What's the best we can do is to contribute in whatever possible means to decrease Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere. Supporting environment-friendly driven campaign could also be another way of easing our global warming problem. In the end, we live in one planet and whether you agree or not, we are going to be affected by global warming. Our little contribution by being responsible towards our environment will be a great help for mother nature. If we decide to pass the responsibility to other people, just imagine who will be the steward of our planet if all people think the same way.

Cheers.

First you will would desire to tutor there's a catastrophic worldwide warming looming forward. government could do as low as a possibility, with each thing, each and all the time. government operation, militia, workplaces, reasons greater eco-friendly domicile gasoline than maximum different entities. In developed international places maximum pollution and sparkling-cutting happens on government land. you're able to by no potential have faith government to remedy this type of subject. government has by no potential effectively addressed any social or affordable subject. whilst government grants money for a particular consequence the money is squandered. inner maximum marketplace is the place the ideas lie. there is not any desire for government intervention. in case you invent some new technologies or come across a sparkling gasoline source it is very effectual and economically attainable the industry will undertake it via default. regulations over the emissions of eco-friendly domicile gasses will dramatically advance the cost of residing worldwide extensive, human beings will die. The worst subject a individual can do to advance their carbon footprint is have a new child. could we invoke the capability of government to modify procreation?

Wake-up to the facts please. The omissions from this country being so small compared to USA, Russia, China and India, have virtually no effect on the global warming situation. I do not think that this Governments actions (apart from being an honest broker in international discussions) will do anything other than use this bandwagon of CO2 emissions to raise more taxes - what a wonderful excuse this makes for them too.
The evidence about global warming caused by man alone is just not there! Take the time and trouble to look at the science, do not believe all you read or hear on the news.

'Kittycat' yes your right but considering that every Minister has a limousine as well as most senior civil servants they don't set a good example. All this nonsense about Cameron using a bike is just that, a stunt. He and the leader of the Liberals also have taxpayer provided cars. The example that politicians set for the rest of us is one of unfettered greed,,just look at their allowances revealed last week in the media. That the politicians will not allow their allowances to be subjected to any examination but have 'a code of honour' that they are accurate tells you all you need to know. Honour? that lot don't know the meaning of the word.

I suspect this is why the leader of the Tory's rides to work on a bike!

The environment will be a big issue at the next election and people are not fools. Unfortunately the country is not run by the Government, it is run by big business and money; they will not give up their means to show how great they are so easily, I mean, if we all end up on bicycles, what will they do then? Buy gold, diamond encrusted tandems and a pro-rider to do all the pedalling (so the whole world can see how important they are)?

Unfortunately this same attitude filters down through all levels of society, everybody THINKS they are better than their neighbour and most are prepared to 'burn' the world to prove it!

Brilliant question - best today! Yes they should lead by example. It is the main reason why progress is not being made: nobody takes them seriously when they ride around in limos and own many houses. It is the first rule of leadership that if you want people to do something, or behave differently, then you should first do it. As long as rich politicians and their friends talk down to us, then little real progress will be made.

It's do as I say not as I do from this lot. It just exposes their hypocrisy. I bet they are like the 'stars' who drive a prius and then take a private jet - using tens of thousands of gallons of fuel to fly just them!

Actually come to think of it hasn't Blair just done exactly that ? - after taking the Queen's flight a record number of times he's ordered himself two new aircraft.

Ahh you've spotted the hypocracy. The thing is they can afford it because they keep voting themsleves big payrises at our expense. They are going to slowly but surely price us off the roads but they will always be able to afford it since they will just take more of our tax as salary.

Just for reference, I think that the whole green issue will be used by the government simply as a method of screwing more tax out of us. I also don't think any of it will make the slightest bit of difference to the climate.

Yes they should lead by example & that goes for everyone who drives huge cars. Its the same with the food we eat they should bring in laws to protect us.We will be the ones paying to reduce co2s.We also pay the price in health with all the additives which are not named in food etc.
