She needs to get checked out.

It is possible and quite common to have a little light spotting in early prenancy with no harmful outcome, but it could also be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy, or infection or cervical erosion, as well as possible miscarriage.

The best thing to do is get a scan as soon as possible.

I wish you both the best of luck and I hope things go well.

Congratulations on the pregnancy, with any bleeding you should avoid sex to decrease the chances of miscarriage, but bleeding or spotting doesn't automatically mean you will lose the baby, If bleeding occurs during pregnancy especially early pregnancy then you should take her to the doctor as they can send her for an ultrasound to see what is causing the bleeding, as it can be from many things, it could be a small tear in the placenta and may need to bed helped by complete bed rest as it can heal itself. You will need to be careful for the first few weeks up until at leased 12 weeks to help slim down the chances of miscarriage.

I hope you have a great pregnancy and just remember that bleeding can be normal but should always be checked out. I wish you all the very best Good luck.

My wife is pregnant. At the begining she had a little bleeding. The doctor said that is happens often and they would check her out any ways. They did an ultrasound on her uterus and there was like a pocket of blood that was just being released. It could be a miscarriage but it may not be. Have her go to the doctor probably sooner than later so you can just find out for sure.

Good Luck.

Try not to worry. Follow the advice of the other answers and get her checked out by your GP or the midwife at the hospital.

Not all bleeding during pregnancy is bad news. I had what seemed to be completely normal periods for the first 5 months of my pregnancy and am now the proud mother of a healthy 7 day old son.

I hope everything works out for you.

If the blood is bright red have her page her doctor, now. If brownish, have her call her doctor in the morning. Never the less MAKE SURE she gets into see the doctor tommorow. I had a miscarriage w/ my 1st pregnancy, I had bleeding w/ my 2nd & 3rd pregnancy was put on bedrest & delivered 2 healthy babies. Just make sure she does not stress & no heavy lifting, she should not even lift a gallon of milk until she sees her doc. NO SEX,(obvious) GOOD LUCK, you both are in my prayers

considering that your girlfriend is just coming up to 5 weeks of pregnancy its highly likely that the bleeding she is experiencing is what is called implantation bleeding. this is perfectly normal as the embryo implants its self into the lining of the womb.however i would still contact your GP to ensure that things are OK and also to put your minds at rest. any bleeding along with abdominal cramps are a cause for concern at any stage of a pregnancy I'm sure your GP will be able to put your minds at ease and good luck x

It may be an inplantation bleed this is normal if she starts to suffer with any cramps and pain then it will likely be a m/c but id go to the drs who will arrange an internal scan to be on the safe side good luck and i hope all goes well for you both

Its very common - I had light bleeding around about that time with my first pregnancy. Everything turned out great tho - don't take hot baths (not you - her!) and let her get plenty of rest. If the bleeding is accompanied with cramping then go to hospital - otherwise call dr to make sure everything is ok and for your peace of mind.

there is a possibillity of miscarriage but also, some women have light bleeding at the start of pregnancy, its called 'a show' see your doctor and they will probably send your girlfriend for a scan, possibly an internal scan. try not to worry too much, i know three people who have had this and they're ready to have theres. see your doctor

I would go the doctor now.
It doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing though - I did have a light bleed at the time of my period when I was pregnant. But I woulnd't take a chance.
