LIFE. that's it. The way you were raised, with the people you grew up around. Dysfunction, which is more common than not. Some people are raised with respect, honesty ,dignity, and manners. More and more are not. Successes and failures, the schools you went to.

The saying " The apple doesn't fall far from the tree", makes alot of sense. Look at the parents and the history behind the style. Parents are a real focus when it comes to the make up of their children. The parents can be the worst, and their children can "seem" to be okay, then the parents can "seem" to be the best and their children can be the worst. It's all about how the person was raised in the long run. Genes can factor in but I think that it is all about how the child feels about the parent that influences their being. Then you can toss in the elements of location. I have noticed that in the area that I live, perfectly good kids turn into monsters based on their educational economy.
The schools that are filled with children that live in households filled with alcoholism and drug use, change them into animals just to survive.
The reason the way people are the way they are will boggle your mind. Try studying Sociology in school.

like the others have said...there is alot of factors that makes a person the way that they are. I believe it starts off from when we are a child and how we are raised and the surroundings and people around us. What we see and learn is what we will most likely grow up to be like or do. Start be looking at peoples characteristics...some examples are a person can be loving, confident, adventurous, selfish, undisciplined, bitter, dont trust anyone or even violent. Anyone of these characteristics were once learned from someone else for the person to have this quality in them. Could be learned from a parent, friends, siblings, or even somone that the person wants to be like. Everyone is raised differently and is a product of there surroundings. If you take someone from the suburbs they and then someone rasied in the city...there views about things are going to be completely different. If you take a women who has been lied to and hurt badly by a man...more then likely she will have problems with trusting men in the future. If you take a woman who has always brought men in and out of her house and flaunted this to her daughters and on occasion has been beaten infront of them..more then likely they will grow up thinking that its okay to sleep around and expect that men will put there hands on them. Its all a state of mind and what you have seen ;)

that one is a very deep question....some People are shaped from childhood. One that could have been neglected or abused could have hatred or remorse toward people. Living a life of no trust, and loneliness. Others may have had a childhood where they were free to express themselves and protected from the harsh life that they would face when they got older. Many thing in life make you who you are. Most children that we call geeks are formed from being bullied and picked on...they withdrawal and do well on there own...until old enough to be away and done with the drama...adolescents cause. I am who I am because my mother. Growing up in the segregated south...i have taken on the trait of looking outside when I hear a noise, she looked because we are mixed black/white...KKK didn't like that. I am very nice to people...even those who don't deserve it. She forgives and forgets every trouble that has come to her. I feel deep inside I would Handel things differently, but I learned from her...."what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger

There are many contributing factors that make us the way we are. Some are our upbringing, the crowds we are associated with, beliefs, just to name a few. But the Word of God says that all things work together for the good of them that love God and who are called according to His promises.

Agree with Blessed n Favrd.

So many things affects who we are today. Every second of what happened in the past will have at least a small mark on us.

Some might have stronger impact that others.

The others have very good points, but life in itself makes a person who they are, their experiences are one of the greatest factors.

There's a lot that influences that. Home life is the biggest contributor, as well as peer pressure, society as a whole, etc...
