where to start...... so many great Scottish bands and singers.....
Teenage Fanclub - amazing songs "bandwagonesque" is the best!
The Soup Dragons - mainly for "I'm Free" but their were a few other great indie tracks before that
Eugene Kelly - Th Vaselines, mainly for the Eugenius album "Oomalama" but also for being such a big influence for Kurt Cobain
The Delgadoes - Emma Pollok is a beautiful singer and they did well with Chemical Underground
Belle & Sebastian - you can't not love them, you really can't!
Arab Strap - mainly for making folk realise they liked Scottish accents, no matter what style!
Mogwai - for making folk realise they loved Scottish musicians even if the vocals are few and far between!
Idlewild - best lyric in a song "It's better to have a song written for you than a song written about you" So true!
Biffy Clyro - very strong three piece with loads of energy and great live shows
Snow Patrol - even if you think they aren't Scottish, 40% of them are and they live in Glasgow. They actually call themselves Celtic, but there you go.
Franz Ferdinand - what an amazing game plan to storm the music industry just as they have!
Primal Sream - again, slightly tenuous, but Bobby is from East Kilbride.
Union of Knives - best new electro rock band around
Texas - for having the success they have had for so long and for continuing to hold on tto it.
Travis - for spending ten years trying to make it and never giving up!
KT Tunstall - for doing something different
Total respect to all these bands, and especially those who have managed to stay in Scotland, and still have success. it's even harder for a Scottish artist when the industry is in London.

Delgados - met the singer too, the music is of another world, and yet the singer is very down to earth. Lovely.
Also like Belle & Sebastian - a beautiful sound indeed. Love the lyrics, very to the point and lots of great humour. The Scottish appear to have a truly wonderful perspective on things!

Travis are good. I heard a funny stand up joke about them though. Too long to tell but basically that they just repeat a word instead of bothering to come up with a chorus re: Turn, Sing etc. Still good music. I love Franz Ferdinand. They rock my world.
