Responsibility: being openly responsible for your own actions and knowing that what you do changes everything and influences others -I think- is one of the biggest things of maturity. Wisdom & Resolve: learning through life so situations can be avoided or dealt with better the next time. Diplomacy: As we get older and more mature we learn how to listen and speak in a way we "can" communicate a lot better. If you do those things first it doesn't matter if you have a laugh or mess around, personality on the out side, maturity on the inside.

experience, the more you are out there and the more you are around mature people the more mature you act, i am 24 i look like i am about 30 and i have always looked older than i am, and many people that i work with are surprised to learn i am only 24 b/c of the way i act towards them. i spent most of my child-hood around my grandparents and their friends so i guess that "older " mentality rubbed off on me. i guess it works in reverse to, my wife is a stay at home mom and we have a 2 year old, and i swear some times she acts just like our daughter does lol

I don't think there IS any one factor - you either grow up and learn from your mistakes, or you don't. I think it is a different journey for every individual
