Cookie Cutter gave you real good advice here. A computer for gaming? Well, if you wanna go and flip serious cash for one, and don't know the do's-and don'ts, you may ruin the whole thing and not even realize it.
MOST parts cant be touched unless you destatic yourself, the body contains enough of a electrical charge, that when it comes in contact with some of the small parts you'd have, that they will get smoked suddenly. I have wasted parts like RAM, and a geforce 6200 oc card. So, plz be informed first about the dangers YOU pose to your stuff.
Building a computer, like mine is, can be one of the most exciting things you can do. And yes! it can be done cheap, and its not hard.
But before you go out and get started in grabbing computer stuff
research a bit. Find out whats available and compare that to what you want to use or play on it.
But as for advice, I advise you to follow what Cookie said.

If you're a newbie then don't try to build a computer just yet. You need to learn how to actually fix problems as they occur first. Or how will you know how to troubleshoot any problems building one? Learn as much as you can before attempting to build one. I mean Learn, Learn Learn... Practice, help others fix their computers and see if you can figure problems out. Know the terms of parts and what they do. I mean, sure you can come on here and just 'ask' somebody to tell you how to do it, but what will that teach you? Might as well just buy one already to go! Remember, before you can drive a car, you've got to know how to maintain one. good luck :-)
