What I mean is, now-a-days banks need both signitures of the spouses on a document for a loan, they do it for security, which means both parents need to work and this discourages large families because they are in a financial bind. Paying off a loan being more important thing on a list of priorities.

Even now many feminist I know of wish to be able to stay home and raise a family but it seems the Canadian government is almost discouraging it when it cut off most of the benifits for large families. Beause of this Canada has less people being born and the population is not growing.

What it all seems to come down to is greedy banks ruining the dreams of women, dreams of being able to choose whether or not they wish to work in or out of home. Women wanted to be able to have their name also on a bank loan but now it is demanded by many banks so it is no longer a choice.

O I do wish I could go back in time and be a speaker for the beginning of the feminist movement. I agree with you completely. I want more than anything in this world to be a stay at home mom, but I cannot because I cannot afford it. Society won't let me. I moved from NY to FL at the time cost of living was less now it isn't and i have to work to afford, food, housing and education for my son, I can't even afford to give him a brother or a sister. It breaks my heart. Hindsight is 20/20 no one thought this could have happened!!

Yes I can understand what you're saying. Although I do think that if the economy hadn't become inflated due to the women's movement, it would have inflated some other way.

The women's movement was necessary for women in society, and there is always a downside to progress. Commercialism creates and encourages greed in whatever way it can. Look at the environmental crisis we face now due to the greed infested oil industry. Yes oil products have fuelled our lives, but at what cost to nature? What better ways can we do things in the future?

Although women's rights did put more strain on the family unit, it has also brought alot of positive benefits. It is evening out, now women can have paid maternity leave, they can bring their children to work in a lot of places even when they return to work. The government compensates parents financially for the children they have had. I know it's not the same as the old-fashioned family. But society changes, and it's not all down to women's rights.

Alot of these changes are down to 'Human Rights' which we have only seen emerge in force over the last 15-20 years. Allowing criminals and illegals basic human rights, has affected western society greatly - and also at a cost to us law-abiding citizens.

There are alot of things wrong with the world, but there are many things that are positive also. Even in the case of Human Rights, we now have organizations such as Amnesty International fighting for political prisoners in foreign lands, and producing just results through their efforts.

Through every grunt and groan our society makes in order to grow and better itself, there are pains and difficulties along the way. It is the cost of progress. Things always even-out in the end. Nothing ever stays the same - we just have to get used to that and realise that life is not 'ideal' as we would wish.

What you might consider the 'ideal' home life (mom at home, dad at work etc... ) was not always historically the ideal situation for many families. Alot of women in the past really wanted to do something outside of the home - but because of societal prejudices did not have those opportunities. They lived with various forms of depression, yet there were no theraputic outlets for them because it was an unknown condition. Women now have the ability to do that, and I for one have worked even harder to make sure I can have both a career and a family. It just takes a stronger effort on the part of women, and men to make sure they can get the balance right in our modern world. Men have to be more involved in the home, and that's not a bad thing.

If society doesn't offer you the ideals you want, go out and make them happen for yourself - because nothing is ever perfect, we make life what it is.

I do completely understand what you are saying though.

Are you serious? *Sigh* feminism gives women the right to choose to stay home (a completely valid choice and a HARD job), or go to work (also a valid choice!). Choice is key.
