Maybe just a case of it being well-needed. Given all the social issues to be found on their own shores whilst out "fixing" the world, think there is definitely some argument for a miracle of some sort being required - and quickly :)

Americans in general seem to be proud of their country and very patriotic, this may be mis-guided in some instances, however I think that if places like the UK etc had the same pride in their country and fellow country men life would be better. Americans pledge their allegiance to the flag on a daily basis in school, whilst in England flying the St Georges cross can be mis-interpreted as racist or xenophobic and as such has been banned in certain public places.
Perhaps rather than knocking Americans all the time the rest of the world should look at what they do well and see how we can incorporate into making our day to day lives better.

It is the result of a childlike psychology that if you say something enough it becomes true. It is kind of like a magic spell or prayer. Personally, I like its arrogance and narcissism. As if a God would need some Bozo to tell him what does, or does not, require blessing.

We turned our back on God, and pay him much lip service.
I say him referring to all humans.
