Either suitcase nukes or suitcase dirty bombs require nuclear material. You cannot move this stuff without someone knowing about it. HUGE intelligence failure of many countries if they succeed.
Of course radioactive or chemical materials are produced in vast quantities in a lot of industries, easy to pick up. They might use this stuff, but it will have a limited effect when compared to the nuclear stuff. Still very nasty though. I'm sure they are messing around with this idea, but still in the planning stages in the Middle East. They would realise they could only use it once, and so far the effects they could achieve would not be worth the risk.

Suitcase nukes are super sophisticated weapons. May be suitcase dirty bombs, but not suitcase nukes.

No they don't it's all part of the culture of fear that the current administration wants the public to feel so that they can wage ware on their (oil rich) country of choice, and make laws which defy the constitution, and remove basic civil liberties.
