I got my battery tested today and they said it was good. I got my alternator tested a few weeks ago and they said it was still working. It however is about 2 years old. I took the battery out and noticed some coersion on the nutt that connects the wire to the battery, I replaced it and had the battery charge, the truck started again, however after I got it home and it sit for about 3 or 4 hours, the lights started to dim again. About an hour later it stopped cutting on. The lights still come on, the security light still flashes, the radio still plays, the automatic locks lock, however slowly. I'm not a car person and I'm not sure what else it could be.

if itll take a jump start, its probably the alternator. if not that, then you have a short to ground someplace and a long haul ahead of you to get it found and fixed.

Take these steps: Charge the battery fully and leave for 24 hrs then have it load tested. If that works out well, start the engine. If it starts then its not the starter. With the engine running, place the red lead from a volt meter on the positive terminal of the alternator and the black to any ground, you should have a reading of about 14.2 volts, if not its your alternator. If these steps turn out positive you then have a dead short somewhere else.
