Different steps ought to be taken:
1. Remove Greg as coach
2. Re-instal Wright as coach and Ganguly as captain.
3. Recall experienced bowlers: Zaheer, Balaji & Nehra
4. Recall Laxman, Kumble, Ganguly and Gambhir
5. Keep one team for ODI and Test

FOCUS. This is the only magic that is missing. Greg is not at all focused and it is confusion that is being disguised as experiments. He is busy fooling around with Indian cricket and nobody in BCCI wants to take the bold action of sacking him. He should have been put on the first flight back to Australia after the Champions Trophy debacle. LET US HAVE AN INDIAN COACH.
Dravid cannot be focused as he does not have a mind of his own. He is a spineless captain and shamelessly defends defeat after defeat. Thank God he did not get the Khel Ratna. He does not deserve it...now or ever. SELECT A NEW CAPTAIN. Unfortunately, there is no one at present who has the shrewdness and guts like Ganguly.
Tendulkar is a legend and a master but his mind is on his injury and his reflexes are no longer what they were a few years back...so he is not able to focus on his batting and unable to score big in crucial matches. Let us try and learn to think of Indian cricket without him.
No other player is world class. Moreover they are busy appearing on billboards and in commercials and with money assured through contracts, they do not feel the need to focus on cricket. Throw out Pathan, RP Singh and Shewag, drop Yuvraj, Raina and Dhoni for a few games and pick a few good youngsters from India 'A'.
BUT FIRST - Banish Greg Chappell. He was a B grade player and is a D grade coach.
SECOND - Mr Vengsarkar, please walk the talk. The side selected for South Africa does not seem to be selected based on performance and form. There is a regional bias. Half the side selected does not deserve to be there. Selectors have to be gutsy and impartial.
THIRD - Let us not glorify the cricketers and cricket unnecessarily. Team India is being treated as if it is God's gift to humanity. They are just a bunch of pampered sportsmen who are not performing again and again. Flash-in-the-pan performances are making these substandard players into national heroes.
LAST but not the least - there must be a will to win, strong and clever captaincy, conviction and belief in themselves and above all world class talent.

Indian cricket team is composed of talented players, but the only thing they lack is the killer instinct. The bowlers must concentrate on their line and length rather than the pace. The batsmen should emulate the professionalism and endurance of South African players. Moreover, the coach Greg Chappel should stop experimenting now and allow the players to settledown and concentrate on their respective position. We have come a long way, we have seen enough cricket and now is the time we must learn to win. The Indian players should remember that the country wants them to exhibit excellence on the field, not to show off on the ramps or minting money through modelling. Cricket should be their profession.

Greg Chappel, the destroyer of Team India needs a flight back home. The Team India that was buit by Gangully and Wright is no longer a team. It has become a group of individuals lacking focus and direction. The way they fumbled against a depleted England side in chasing a low score, had indicated the fortunes of this group of individuals in the Champions Trophy. This group of individuals need to find place for Gangully....the best captain India had. Lets accept the fact, Our Master Blaster Tendulkar has to regain his lost touch, or has age caught up with him? I still feel the three biggies viz, Tendulkar, Dravid and Gangully should play in the next World Cup and not to forget the under rated ANIL KUMBLE.

The best thing is to keep substitutes ready for the play.
V Sehwag, Pathan, Sachin, Agarkar are the players who can make a real big difference. These are the players who keep on changing their performance very often.
Any of these player donot show talent in 2/3 consecutive mathes has to be send home. Put those trained, fit and young substitutes in place of these so called experienced players.
This will ensure that they have to perform well else get thrashed.
Who ever it is, Sachin or Pathan. This will also bring more options and young blood in the team.

Everybody leave their own complexions and perform with witt and strength, The Main players don's:
1) Tendulkar - Remove from the mind that u r nearing ur retirment and done enough. Play every match as if this is your first match. Do not afraid McGrath or anybody else for that matter.
2) Dravid - Do not mix-up your indvidual performance with Captaincy. Uplift the morale of team when really in crisis. Come out of the shadow of Guru Greg. The good captain is one who hold his nerves when his team is faring bad. Stop expermimentation. Identify the responsibility for everybody in the team. Put expectation for everybody and yardsticks.
3) Yuvaraj - Leave your jokes apartt, be serious with your training sessions and perform with responsibilty.
4) Dhoni - Forget all that hype u received so far and come out of the hangove and perform as you are still hungry of achievements.
5) Sehwag - Come of the jinx. Don't be complacent that u r inevitable to the team. Perform as you are needy.
6) Pathan - If u r tired enough leave the place. Door is open. The fame and wealth u earned is enough. Leave the place for others. Or else, perform. Results are needed.
7) Bhajji - What is happening man. Come out of the controvery of your appearance in liquor advt. Put urself to your best.
8,8,10,11,12,13 & 14 follow the suit.

The team that can bring back the world cup is :
Ganguly, Tendulkar, Sehwag, Dravid, Yuvraj, Kaif, Dhoni, Kumble, Nehra, Pathan and Harbhajan.
Other members of the squad will be Laxman, Dinesh Mongia, Balaji and Munaf Patel.
Coach will be a committed Indian like Sandeep Patil or Mohinder Amarnath in place of an indifferent foreign professional.

The team should go in with a lot of confidence against any team anywhere anytime..and keep up the fighting spirit till the last ball is played...
The best eleven and order tat should be followed is
1. Tendulkar
2. Sehwag
3. Yuvraj / Raina
4. Dravid
5. Dhoni
6. Raina/ Yuvraj
7. Pathan
8. Harbhajan/Powar
9. Kumble
10. Agarkar
11. Munaf Patel / Sreesanth
and keep changing the team depending upon the fitness and form..open gates for Ganguly, Laxman, Balaji, Nehra, Zaheer, and other players who can do well...
the reason for the above order is Sehwag can take the game away from the opposition...Tendulkar is an opening genius...Yuvraj/Raina cud make use of the talents with variety of shots in the Power Plays..Dravid cud play his part very well..Dhoni, Pathan, Harbhajan can blast away in the end overs..
Whereas in bowling Pathan and Munaf shud open, while Agarkar can make use of the old ball very well..with Harbhajan and Kumble..u can get a variety of spin tat can win u from anywhere..
And a interesting thing to see is tat Till Agarkar..everyone can bat...!!! :)
if all are in gud form..then i dont think anyone cud beat India...!!!!!

Greg should work only as a coach, and give the full responsibility of captaincy to Dravid. Ganguly should be recalled .The main problem remains that Greg tries to keep Dravid under his total control. It is a pity that BCCI with its colonial mindset could not find an Indian coach, when so many good players are around.
