I think the country has gone to the dogs over the last few years, and a labour government always makes things many times worse.
There is too much political correctness, far too many do-gooders with more say than they deserve. The schools and universities are so intent on every student being able to have a degree that we have a generation of young people who are virtually illiterate but have degrees in media studies or washing pets etc. Children and youths have never received any disciplin and are wrapped in cotton wool so that they are allowed to rule the streets.
Immigration has and is still allowing far too many people into Britain. These people seem to want to live here but not to integrate into the British way of life, so why do they come here ?
The National Health Service is falling apart and the governments only solution is to throw more cash into the black hole it has become. This income is then used up on creating a bigger buerocracy which needs more money to sustain itself.
The above is a brief answer to the question.....Discuss

this use to be a great country, unfortunately it no longer is. The decline can only get worse we are just a dumping ground for anyone now...... im not against imigration but it should have been controlled more, its crazy to let so many people into a country that simply cant cope with the influx.
This country has changed at such a rate is frightening, over the last 40 - 50 years it has become almost unrecognisable.
this country can only go one way and that is down further, personally i blame namby pamby politicians and do-gooders and joining europe was always going to be a bad thing.
what astounds me is that they are letting it continue, but its gone so far now i cant see it ever getting better.
i think most British people that can afford to will emigrate, i know i will.
and is it a fair society? no it certainly is not !!! how can it be fair when some people are given precedent above others, my friend was even told to change her holiday from work because they have to allow time off for Ramadam and Dwali to others.... strange though that my friend cant demand to have christmas off although that is her religious holiday.
its all gone t*ts up !!!

I don't think Britain is a fairer society because it continues to support existing injustices and inequalities, even if the policies change. I have noticed the politicians continue to practice the British tradition of making sure that the class system always remains in tact. The country is in decay as a society, as we can see from the ever-increasing crime and disrespect on the streets. Both Tories and Labour are to blame. It comes down to a nasty interpretation of how to handle post WWII British decline. The country could have chosen to build a better society, but preferred to do things the nasty way.

Britain is in the toilet. Is it a fair society? What - when the middle classes get shafted left right and centre to pay for the immigrants and freeloading scum who refuse to work, but produce dozens of feral kids on council estates? Politicians? There isn't a single one of them that isn't totally corrupt. Never mind what party they belong to, every politician in this country is a woolly minded, loony-lefty, Guardian reading liberal - even the Tories! How wet is David Cameron!! Society is crumbling with decay, yes, and it is all the fault of the loony liberals who have put the human rights of criminals and burka-wearing bombers above those of us who work hard and are decent and law abiding. When, oh when will we get a government with BALLS?

this country is a joke. every day they tell me they're gonna tax me another grand a year for god knows what, like the amount of times i buy chewing gum from the shop in a week - or a tax on using the word "the".
then they turn around and tell me there's not enough money for pensions, national health and police forces. so where's all the money going???
obvious isnt it? what the goverment itself doesnt fritter away on grace and favour flats, ten course meals for lunch and fifteen jags for that fat b*stard prescott, they give to imigrants and freeloaders!!
"sorry, what was that? oh, you've just turned up in our country with no money, no skills, no ability to speak our launguage and not the slightest inclination of working? please, sit yourself down - help yourself to these peoples hard earned taxes!"

Am i the only person that thinks this country's not as bad as the media make it out to be.? they love to belittle every thing.
if i'm sick and need emergency hospitalisation, am i asked if i can pay first.?or do they leave me in the street?
if i loose my job and cann't find enough to feed my kids, do i have to break there limbs? Or send them out begging in the street or sell them? , as they do in other places ?
Can i send my kids to learn to read and write, and to learn the things i cann't teach them so they have a chance out in the world?
these things i have put above may not be perfect buisnesses, that make buisness profits, and so people may think they are failing, but they are doing there best. when most of our services that we get where set up and seemed at the time to be free or at very little cost, people had much less needs than they do now. We have much greater needs and expectations these days. When we go to hospital now we expect to be fully healed at all cost, we are not happy with them doing there best or just saving our lives and making us as comfortable as they can. We want instant miricles. All of us; now.
When we loose our jobs or our kids cann't find work we don't see why the government cann't keep us in the life we expect.(Pay our bills, buy us a car, give us wages and let us keep our taxes, take us on holidays and buy us an house;) We're not happy with money for food and basic needs, we need luxery, all of us now.
We also don' want basic free education of our kids being taken into school and being taught to read and write, we want them to teach our kids how to be people, how to treat the world and others around them and how to get to university how to pass there peers in life, we don't see that the responcibility of teaching our kids (how to talk to each other how to respect each other, including there teachers and people who look after them, and how to live alongside other living people and creatures on this earth) as our own. Parents seem to want someone else ie;the schools and government, to do that for them. How can a teacher teach when they have to parent thirty kids at one time, most of us think its enough with our own if we have more than three, fours seen as a irrisponcibilty that you could never cope with .
We want all these things and we want them all now. We don't want to do them ourselves, we want the government to do it. But its not just there responcibility its all of ours. We like to see the bad in a place or people but we seem to fail with the good.
