the cave of magic is pretty easy... none of the cards on the first page appear on the last page
First page: 9 Spades; 7 Diamonds; 8 clubs; 7 spades; 8 diamonds; 9 hearts
Last page: 7 clubs; 9 diamonds; 8 spades; 9 clubs; 7 hearts
MYSTICAL BALL:
- this relies on a little trick. if you're comfortable with algebra then:
the original number you choose is 10x+y (i.e., 47 has x=4 and y=7). if you add the two digits together, it's x+y. so when you subtract one from the other you get: 10x+y - (x+y) = 9x. That means no matter what two digit number you choose it will be some multiple of 9. i.e., 9, 18, 27, 36, etc. When you get to the page all multiples of 9 have the same symbol, so the answer will ALWAYS be that symbol. When you 'try again' a different symbol is used for all the multiples of 9, so it looks like it's changing!

These are cute. The way they work is they use the same symbol for all combinations of 2 numbers subtracted from the original root number..try this pick a number say 23 and also pick a number say 47. when you work the problem they will both have the same symbol for that game. The symbols change each game but are still all the same for 23 and 47.

It doesn't. The correct symbol repeats on certain numbers. Those numbers are the only possible outcomes. The math is clever and complicated, but it's actually a very simple process.
For the second trick, your card isn't shown at the end because NONE of the original cards are shown at the end.
For example:
Original- Q of Hearts, J of Spades, K of Spades, A of Diamonds.
Changed- Q of Diamonds, J of Clubs, K of Clubs, A of Hearts.
No matter which you picked originally, it won't show up at the end.
