oh darlin, apparently u havent seen the sandlot...because if u would u wouldnt even care whether he was or not... the impact he made on the sport of baseball is worth all the fame... It's a shame they call him the home run king because he was honestly and farewell beat out by Hank Aaron, unlike the juiced up Barry Bonds, but what a lot of people don't know is that Babe grew up as an orphan, gave back to the community, was hilarious and did it all with natural talent... he even garunteed a diing kid he'd hit him a homerun... the babe ate more hot dogs, drank more beers, and smoked more cigars than most of the fans that watched him... he was part of the biggest, most popular, long lasting, and just recently shattered curse of all time... but the most amazing feat of all is that before he started hitting all those homeruns, he WAS A PITCHER!!! and an amazing pitcher at that... so since u probably havent seen sandlot ill give u the best quote in movie history, HEROS GET REMEMBERED, BUT LEGENDS NEVER DIE!!! now with all that said, i havent really answered the question, the simple answer is he was so much more powerful than any other player of his time, he was a great story, and even named the KING, how could he not be in the HOF...

Because hes simply the best player to have played the game,he made the other players look like kids,A man among men,He made more money than the president did when he was playing, that's a tribute to the kind of player he was. Try to imagine how many home-runs he would hit in today's game against the mediocre pitchers there are in today's game.
he would hit more than 100 in a season or shatter the int.walk record, for goshs sake he used a 46 inch bat, a major leaguer wouldn't even consider using a bat that big. That buliding should be called THE HOUSE THAT RUTH BUILT-not Yankee Stadium

Thats like asking, Why does a Cheeseburger have Cheese on it? Because, if the Babe wasnt in the HOF, the world would come to an end. Keep in mind, the Babe was a pitcher his first EIGHT SEASON! (Tell me one pitcher who threw eight season and then went on to hit 50 homers in his career, ok well you cant can ya? and the BABE hit 660 HR's). This is a stupid question. I believe they called him the Sultan of Swat, and Sultans are not to be messed with. They are like Egyptian Gods, they walk the earth after death.
I Believe there is only one hitter that compares to him, in that Pitchers feared them... Barry Bonds. So you got Bonds being compared to the Babe, is Bonds going to the HOF? No DOUBT! So should the Babe be there? NO DOUBT!

Babe is in the junk-food hall of fame for eating a ton of hot dogs.

Short answer is good publicity. The Hall of Fame isn't about your character. At least not for people like him.

Well he was a leader in his field for many years, a guy that people came to see play in all the cities, he had 714 HRs and was an accomplished pitcher. Yeah we don't want anyone like THAT in the Hall!

Because it's a great candy bar. Come on, he's the greatest of all time. Why wouldn't he be in the Hall of Fame?

maybe because he was THE most dominant player in his time, and maybe of all time. he was a dominant pitcher, then switched positions and became the most dominant hitter. nobody has ever done that and will never do that again. thats why he is in the hall.

MAN I'VE SEEN ALOT OF DUMB QUESTIONS IN MY DAY BUT YOURS TAKES THE CAKE. ARE YOU A RETARD OR WHAT
BABE RUTH WAS PROBABLY THE GREATEST PLAYER EVER. HE WAS A GREAT PITCHER WHO COULD ALSO HIT.
THERE WERE NO ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES IN THOSE DAYS
(STEROIDS FOR YOU BARRY BONDS FANS). HE HIT FOR POWER & AVERAGE WHICH IS RARELY DONE THESE DAYS. SO THERE.
