Different culture. They think we're too nice. I work with a lot of different cultures and get used to different actions.
If you think their actions are bad, wait until you learn about how they run businesses, avoid paying taxes, cheat with credit cards, and abuse workman's comp. Their culture is also based on a very corrupt government and think ours is weak and ripe for the taking.
I have a lot of East Indian friends and the stuff they tell me is simply shocking sometimes.

I've been working with a East Indian woman for 13 years and have seen her make people cry...she says the most hurtful things to people. BUT, you can't defend yourself or say anything back or she will make your life a living hell...she seems to have a few screws lose.

They are Indian what do you expect!?...Maybe that's what they are like in their country.Anyway im half indian but live in the caribbean,Trinidad and Tobago. We do that too when we go in stores maybe sometimes fold it back, well i do at least.Anyway you shouldn't be bothered you work in a store and that's your job regardless. Its called customer service.Just ignore it and continue working hard. Also you can tell the manager the problem but don't say indians though --say people are taking advantage of the customer service and leaving the store in a mess. You can ask your manager to make a sign for the store .

What I think you mean is "why are some East Indians so rude?"
Your experience is, perhaps, atypical. But if you see documentaries of the way Indians behave in India, you'll see them pushing like mad into buses and trains and movie theaters. It's cultural.
If you wrap a string around your wrist and tie it to your grocery cart, they'll have to take you with it. If they push you out of the way, you might want to respond by asking why they are so pushy. If someone reaches over you in the restroom to wash her hands, a question might be in order there. If you stop thinking in terms of their being rude and just behaving the way they behave in their home culture, you might help teach someone a western way of doing things and might even learn something yourself.
Of course, some Americans drive too fast, cut you off in traffic and when you honk at them they give you the finger.. Go finger!?

People from different cultures can seem very rude because they have different practices. Some cultures find it rude to hug and shake hands. Others find it rude not to let men through the door first, for others it is the opposite. In my family we find convalescent homes a horrifying tradition, to many Americans this is Normal. We find leaving children with babysitters, who are strangers, instead of with a grandparent or relative ghastly. But this is common to others. This cultural confusion is why I support etiquette classes. It may prevent a lot of misunderstandings. I also think Americanization classes are good. Not because I wish to make everyone into one type of person, or make people forget about their culture, but to work as a cultural buffer. Culture shock is a scary thing. A lot of people may no understand a lot of customs, and this may result in altercations. If someone were to drop me off in the middle of Japan, i would really want to know the rules of etiquette for that society so that I would not unintentionally insult someone.

Just a culture difference. What you think is rude is to other people normal and vice versa.

I think they have to learn how to behave if they are in a different place than their home country. Afterall, whatever experience they have, it is not how they are suppose to do things here.
