Because African American history is American history. It is why we had a civil war. With as far as we have come, there is still racist views about African-Americans. They are a people who fought for the right to be free from tyranny and slavery and deserve our respect, same as Native Americans(whom of which still live in tremendous poverty, because of our government's thumb) or any other "race". And lastly, because it is important to know more about where they came from and how they have contributed to your way of life.

#1 They are forced to study American history, and a lot of it.
#2 It is one sided if we don't do the same and study their history.
#3 Maybe there would be less racists in the world.
