Seems like many Jewish names have a color as part of the architecture of the surname: for example, "Gold," "Goldberg," "Blue," "Bluementhal," "Silver/Silverman,"GreenGreenberg," etc..

in the middleages jews were ordered to take on surnames, so they chose names of things and other items including colors. therefore a lot of jewish names reflect that. like blumenthal, goldblatt, gruen/greenblatt/baum, blumen/bloomfeld/berg, etc. many of those names originated in german language and were translated later in english.

Many times Jews took on names that had something to do with what they worked in or where they lived Goldman-gold man ie.works in gold same would be Silverman. Schneider is a Jewish name it means tailor in Yiddish. There are many such examples.

Well, Goldman would imply a banker. Anything with the word "smith" implies an ancestor of metalworking.

Actually its not so much Jewish as it would be Yiddish, which is a dialect of German.
