since gametes are produced by meiosis, hence they contain half the number of chromosomes than which are present in the body cells.
hence the gametes will contain 6 chromosomes.
after the fusion of the gametes the new individual will again contain 12 chromosomes in its body cells.

since there are 12 chromosomes in the somatic cells, gametes will have 6 chromosomes each

however, if you are talking about 12 PAIRS of chromosomes then there will be 12 in each gamete

There will be 6 chromosomes in the gamete cells...as they are formed by meiototic division (chromosome no. is halved)
