Hi. Knots are fascinating, as are black holes. But for a totally different, yet amazing, reason. The tree which formed the knot did so because a cell in the bark was exposed to enough radiation (sunlight) that it turned into a self reproducing branch, complete with bark, leaves, the ability to produce seeds and therefore reproduce. All in all a MUCH more important event than a simple gravity field can produce.

It's OK, if the knots are invisible and swallow up the rest of the wood. Otherwise, it's totally irrelevant.
