It is just a fun time and great excuse for a party and to dress up as another character... takes one back to childhood.

Okay, I know a kiwi is a fruit, but I don't think that's what you mean. I dunno where you're from, but Hallowe'en is big lots of places, not just the States.

Probably because it's the last low stress holiday before their Thanksgiving and Christmas hit. The other holidays used to be fun, but now it's a scramble to get gifts and the biggest turkey and to get to the school pageant and full schedules and lean budgets are even further challenged. Most Americans are in debt in January.

For Americans, Thanksgiving is way more a big deal than Christmas.

Halloween is a time to have fun. To dress up as something you aren't...usually, to go out see friends and family, spook each other a little and enjoy the night. It's just a night for fun. Not only Americans participated in halloween other countries do as well.

Free Candy!

P.S. Do you celebrate Halloween in New Zealand?
P.P.S. I know that the kiwi is a bird and that kiwi is only a nickname for the Chinese Gooseberry fruit.

Fun! Parties, costumes, good food, good candy, dancing and the idea of being haunted, turned into a zombie or bitten by a vampire? Cant get any better! But lets be honest...americans will celebrate anything if partying is involved!

Not every American celebrates it or does anything, there are many that don't do anything at all.

But those of us that do, mainly because it is a fun "holiday." No we do not close banks or have days off but we have parties, dress up in costumes, and give out candy or get candy from trick-o-treating. Also, it's for everyone of all ages!

Americans like it because it is a light-hearted and fun holiday. We get to dress up in costumes, go to parties, do fun stuff with our kids, trick-or-treat and other great stuff. Why wouldn't you want a great holiday like that? You don't get a day off of anything, but it's a good excuse to go out and have fun with your family.

Americans love parties and celebrations. On Halloween, we enjoy wearing costumes, seeing children in costumes and giving them candy and treats. It is great fun.

I guess it's b/c of the fact people can dress up as almost anything and have fun. But it's kind of sad how this generation there are females who dress in very slutty costumes. What does that tell us about our generation.
