White people join cheerleading, football, baseball, basketball to be popular. People who join cross country and track do it for the sport, and not for popularity. Why do so many white preppy snobs do the popular sports, is it because they are shallow and insecure, so they have a need to feel popular? I despise that crowd, that is why I am in cross country, I do it for loving the sport and not to attract popularity. I think whitie who does that (pursue popularity) are weak minded snobs.

It is possible that people (white or otherwise) that join those sports do so because they enjoy them/are good at them. I never really liked cheerleaders myself, so I didn't become one, though I am white. I played Water Polo and joined the swim team because I love water sports, popularity in high school doesn't really matter much when you get older. I moved to a new town and got married and my life is all about that stuff now, you know?

Let me guess, you aren't white. Well, I am white, and deeply offended by your ignorant stereotyping. I played softball in high school and no I'm not a snob, and no I didn't do it to fit it. I did it for the love of the sport, plain and simple. Yah, there are snobs everywhere, but never be so ignorant as to group together a bunch of people into one category (stereotyping) and make assumptions of who they are as a person by what sport/activities they are in. You, my friend are missing out on life because you automatically judge someone on their race or what activities they are involved in. I suggest you get to know someone before you judge them.

God bless.

Lots of people join the traditional sports to be in the spotlight. Not just any particular race.

Perhaps you've just met a couple of jerks on the teams because I know a lot of those athletes who are perfectly nice. :)

If they treat you bad, avoid them. I know it's irritating but jerks usually get whats coming to him in the end. :D

I'm white and I agree with you to some extent. But don't put us all in the same basket. Some of us are just as sincere about our favorite sport as you are about yours. I'm glad you are not like the shallow and insecure guys. But since you are making a racial observation - allow me to make one. Why is it that every shoplifter I see get escorted out of a department store is black? Are they so snobby that they don't think they should have to pay for their CDs like the rest of us? And why is it that it's always the black man selling bootleg CDs at the flea market? Is he so shallow that he can't see that he is actually stealing from his "brother" (the rap artist) who has managed to make it in this world? You guys steal from each other! How dumb is that?
