Hope this helps.

In biology, hybrid has two meanings.

The first meaning is the result of interbreeding between two animals or plants of different taxa. A taxon (plural taxa), or taxonomic unit, is a grouping of organisms (named or unnamed). Once named, a taxon will usually have a rank and can be placed at a particular level in a hierarchy.

The second meaning of "hybrid" is crosses between populations, breeds or cultivars of a single species. A breed is a domesticated subspecies or infrasubspecies of an animal. A cultivar is a cultivated plant that has received a name under the International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (the ICNCP, commonly known as the "Cultivated Plant Code").

Hybrid is not High Bred or High Breed.

Hybrid is crossing different things like Species and Races.

There are Hybrids of Flowers, Hybrids of Bees, Hybrids of Technologies,......

Hybrids tend to get the lable " Sterile" but this is not true. Though some times someone will want a Hybrid animal to be SO SPECIAL and Unique, they will get it Spayed or Neutered and claim it was born sterile. Such is the case for the Liger (a cross between Lion & Tiger). They are not born sterile but do have health problems [ex: a Dwarfism or Giantism will be presant. Maybe that's why another names for Ligers are Lilies.] and are some times sterilized and the Myth is they are all born sterile.
