One may have all the riches,
all those important material and
immaterial things that they believe are the most important things in their lives.
In fact, they dont know that they will have nothing
until they realize the most important thing in life is
APPRECIATION
of LIFE itself.
As for your opinion about love as the most important thing in life, I agree only to a certain extent.
My opinion on the subject is the following:
One hasn't loved until he teaches his mind what his heart is trying to say.
Sometimes emotional love blinds our logical and unconditional love.
We won't have mastered the art of loving until we train both mind and heart to unconditionally love not only those we choose but also all those that we may justly or unjustly assume to be our enemies.
We mustn't drown our love in a cup.
We must let the fountain of love in us flow free and quench the thirst for all people around us.
When we so freely give love
it is then, that most love will come our way.
It is then, that love will have flourished and will have acquired a new meaning in our lives.
This ultimate state of loving however will be reached only when WE make the final decision and not because we have been urged by someone else.

The most important thing I know is that nothing lasts for ever - especially life. I also know that love enriches it exponentially - whether it's love of the beauty all around us if we look, or the love for someone who returns it. I know too that there is always something to love and celebrate, even if it is just the nearest tree, or birds flying, or animals or kids playing. And I know lot of other important things - such as no mistake is important if you can live with the consequences and learn from it; the first decision to make is whether a decision is necessary or not; if in doubt choose the course that creates the most options for the next move; develop compassion because then you can understand and have compassion for yourself, too, and settle for being a fallible human trying to do better; to understand is to love, at least a little, and to love is to understand; which requires communication; and much more - but it's making a book for my grandchildren! Good luck.

We all possess LOVE. The question is, how many of us are willing to give it or share it? Not very many. But I must say, if nothing equals love? Then peace, joy and happiness can take the place of...love.

But is love an action, a destination or an attitude? Isn't how you love equally important as love itself?

my guess is that since you had 127 answers "best" you must be right on this one too --particularly on the point of love, love and love. this being said -- i would like to offer my own version -- slighthly different -- yes, love but whom is the question "self love" is not the answer.unconditional love is not the answer either. so that leaves us the kind of love for love-sake that is a no, no. Now -- the best love you and I have in mind should be "love for the humanity" with that I rest my case. I will see if my pointage will increase because of this reply.
back to original question about "living" -- the best thing i have learned is living yes, but living with physical, moral and psychological "healthy" way -- and no other way.

Trusting your instincts.
Life is not about love imo it's about learning. Love is nice.. and you can learn from love... but we seek enlightenment.
