Me?

I have a serious fixation problem.

For instance, i watched 9 1/2 weeks this morning and i can't stop thinking about Mickey Rourke. I feel pathetic.
And as a result of my philosoph class, i'm constantly thinking about the thesis of my next essay.

I just get so attached to anything i'm interested in.

Oh fellow obsessive-person!! Nice to meet you. I think I like your word...fixated...better than mine...obsessed...sounds a little less psycho! I do that with movies, TV shows, music, people in the news and yes, even some people on here (no one needs to report me, I have not ever stalked anyone!!). Do you tend to get tired of the objects of your fixation after some amount of time?? I usually do to some point. I will 'fall in love with' a musician or band and listen to them non-stop, learn everything I can about them, try to see them in concert, etc, etc. Then at some point I still like them but my attention gets attached to someone/ something else.

I recently got extremely fixated on a certain person in my life. This person offered a sexual flirtation and I couldn't resist and although I am in a some what of a serious although unstable relationship, I can't stop fixated on this person and wanting something from them. I have not acted upon my impulses yet, but greatly want to.

It sounds like you have the reverse of ADHD. What would that be called? DHDA?
;-)

Seriously, I know what you mean. I'm not trying to diagnose you, but have you considered that you might have a mild form of obsessive compulsive disorder? Many people believe that OCD is all about excessive hand-washing and such, but a lot of people manifest it as obsessive thoughts rather than obsessive actions.

On the other hand, you did just see the movie, so maybe it's normal for you to be thinking about it quite a bit for a day or so. As for your thesis, it makes sense to me that you'd be thinking about it on and off until it's actually complete.

I tend to fixate when something is left unsaid! I dwell on it to no end! I'm very upfront and speak out honestly... it kills me to contain my thoughts and words!

NO
I don't get fixated.
I'm not easily hooked on anything.
When I discover something I like, I wear it out.

No, not easily. Some projects or thought processes do reel me in, though.
