No they are dependant. The reason being that disjoint means that 2 events can not occur at the same time. You can not be in Sydney and Los Angeles at the same time. So if you are in Sydney, then you can not be in Los Angeles and visa versa, however you can be in neither place. So you being in Sydney is dependant on you being in Los Angeles. I hope that is clear.

disjoint events means ( according to me ) events that dont have an overlap in time. Asking the same person for his political preference on two different days are disjoint but dependent
