Let's say the equation is Y = 2X

You can plot the points by making X =1; X=2; X=3

Now plug each value of X into the equation and solve for Y. You will find points at: (1,2) (2,4) and (3,6)

You did not give the equation you need help with, but this should give you an idea. There are other ways as well. You can find one point by setting Y as 0 and a second point by setting X as 0. Plug one into the equation and solve for the other. You can pick any value for X and find Y, or any value of Y and find X. Just plug it into the equation.

I hope this helps.

give different values to x or y (your choice) and find the corresponding values of the other variable and express
each pair with the value of x first and the value of corresponding value following that in brackets
equation x^2+2x-1=y
x=0;y=-1
x=1;y=1
x=-1;y=-2
x=2;y=7
so the ordered pairs are
(0,1)(1,1);(-1,-2);(2,7)
