I agree that 'knowledge is power' but I'm sorry I've never heard of 'ignorance is bliss'. How can that be? Rather, we should acquire bliss by means of knowledge, not ignorance. For instance, if you study mathematics with some good teachers who teach with inspiration to you, you see the 'light' and know how to solve any problem presented to you in the tests or exams, you'd experience your state of bliss. Therefore, I'm sorry I don't agree with the first statement. It looks like a sarcasm to me.

This will probably not be a very popular response, but I will do it anyway.
Because the statement "knowledge is power" is an ignorant statement, therefore bliss-full.
It is very important to know that there is a difference between bliss and true bliss. True bliss is what we really want, bliss is and can be synthetic(such as a sense of euphoria that one might get when they are taking mind altering drugs). It is for this reason bliss without being "true bliss" is just an illusion.
Why do we want knowledge? Why do we seek knowledge? We do it to understand.
There is obviously good knowledge and bad knowledge, important knowledge and not important knowledge. Remember, the goal in knowledge is to reach understanding which is true power.
So the only knowledge that is really powerfull is the knowledge to understand the most important knowledge. This is called wisdom.
Only true wisdom creates true understanding. Only in wisdom resides true power.
So both of the statements in your question are just illusions, so neither of those statements are true in the grand scope of things.

Good question. Ignorance can be bliss because when you are ignorant, you are avoiding something, which involves not dealing with something. When you chose to be ignorant, you are chosing to put no effort into something, and you are chosing to be irresponsible for something. In general, ignorance is taking the easy route, aka the easy way out. But yes, knowledge is power, because it is evidence that we have learned something new, and if we have knowledge, then we have the power to change things.

Knowledge can be power but power is not bliss (look at our world leaders). Ignorance can even be power (look at the power a new born human holds over his parents; they jump at his or her every cry.)

Ignorance is bliss because something can't be understood, knowledge is power because it is understood
If something is ignored with an understanding it then becomes arrogance

Knowledge CAN be used to gain power. But some facts, once acquired, can destroy happiness (your father was a Nazi war criminal). However, that piece of info could be used by someone else to blackmail your family - so for them, knowledge is power. More simply, being able to read gives the advantage to someone in a rally searching for clues, over someone who cannot read the clues. But when the order-of-finishing list is posted, you cannot read your name at the bottom of the list - you have avoided pain with your ignorance. "Yes, there IS a Santa" only lasts as long as the myth can be sustained by keeping the child ignorant of the obvious clues that prove the contrary. You can get the kiddies to bed Christmas Eve by exercizing your knowledge of the power of the Santa myth.

Ignorance feeds the power of knowledge. Without ignorance there can be no knowledge.

There are some kinds of knowledge that causes life long pain and distress. One example is the certain knowledge about crimes against women, children and minorities that are ongoing and happening every day in the world. The average person cannot do enough to eradicate such crimes and of course children are better off not knowing about them.

some knowledge, you can do without or would rather do without. sometimes it can bring you down or scare you. that is when ignorance can be bliss.
knowledge is power at the same time because it can get you places & help you understand the world around you.
interesting idea...

Power doesn't mean bliss. Power can lead to misery if not handled correctly.
