I am so sick of them spelling it loose.
It is "they will lose the game" NOT "they will loose the game."

It's that damn English language. I think we need to blame the word "Choose". "Lose" sounds like "Choose", so many people reason that "Lose" should have a similar spelling structure, so they use "Loose" when they mean "Lose".
I have a worse time with people who short form EVERYTHING.
eg: I hv a wrs tym wit ppl wt srt fm vrytng.

Depends on what age and what school. I think you're pretty ignorant yourself for thinking all kids spell lose like loose. I always spell lose lose. In fact I spell nearly everything I type correctly. Of course people in Prep schools usually have better skills for it but that doesn't mean all kids are the stupid social network kind of people.

Sadly, I am a great speller, but will always remember how to spell "lose" correctly. I lost the spelling bee in eighth grade when I spelled it with two o's, though I knew how to spell it correctly. Nerves!

Some folks have a lower tolerance for imperfection than others. Some never learned any better. Some just couldn't memorize the correct spelling.
