If it says you have no aduio device, it is saying you do not have a audio card, I would suspect that you might have one with no driver installed. That would be the hard part to find out, if the computer has a pre installed audio card on the motherboard, you will need to know the mboard so you can download the audio driver for it.

well you have no audio device, which in Windows terms means you have an audio device but Windows does not know what kind, it is missing a file called a driver. Open Device Manager you should see a MM Audio Contrl under Other Devices. Double click on it then click on reinstall driver, let Windows search the Internet automatically and it should find the driver. If it doesn't you have to find out what kind it is (exact model #) and then get the driver from the manufacturer website

Hi,
Let me list down what you need to have to get sound
(apart from the Windows OS of course)
1. Sound device (sound card or built-in sound on your motherboard)
2. Device Drivers (for the system to recognize the device)
3. Speakers!
To see if you have the device
1. Control Panel-->System-->Hardware-->Device Manager
2. Scroll down to Sound,Video and Game Controllers.
3. If you have a sound device, it would be shown there -by name
4. If it is not listed there.. see if you have any components that have a yellow exclamation mark? (esp Multimedia Controller).
If it make sense that that component is a sound device, then the next step is to get a drive for it, cause Windows was unable to get a driver for it automatically.
To get a driver,
1. you must know the manufacturer/brand and model of your sound device. To get this, you may either refer to your computer manual/specs list (if it is not a DIY PC). If it is a built-in device, you can notedown your motherboard brand and refer to its website to know the sound device used.
If all else fail, you'd need to open up your pc to take a look at the hardware. (sound chip, brand, etc)
All in all, you must try to get the correct drivers.
After installation, you should be able to get the sound to work.
Repeat the steps (to see if you have sound device) to see if it is now listed in there.
Gd luck!
