I want to take a notebook computer with me to the mall because it has free wi fi. Alot of people sit around and there is a place that has free coffee and all and I think it might be a good way to get out of the house when I have free time without spending money. I live in a bad area and ride the bus so I don't want to call attention to having a computer. I need to carry it in a case or something but don't want to carry some big obvious case with me. I don't want to carry a large handbag either as that would call attention to me. I would like to put it in a tote bag or something but I don't want it to get bumped or anything. Any ideas.

the place i will be going is a distance from where I live and is a pretty good area so it isn't so much a safety issue there, just getting to and from home

Howzabout a used, slim briefcase? If it's used and a bit battered or worn, it won't call attention to itself as something special, so less likely to be ripped off. You don't see like a backpack type to me, not with all the dresses you wear!

Perhaps a Salvation Army/Goodwill shop near you has such a thing.

Use a regular backpack like one you would use for school and put it in there. Find something to cushion the computer on at least the part that is against your back. A newspaper that is still in the bag it's delivered in (but not necessarily rolled-up) is one handy thing to use as a cushion but you can also use a rolled up sweatshirt or something similar. When you sit down in a seat, just take your backpack full of "school books" that bad people in bad neighborhoods usually want nothing to do with and put it on your lap with the cushion side down so as to prevent jostling of the machine.

I have a padded backpack that is designed to accomodate a notebook computer. It looks like any other backpack, and is very comfortable. You'll blend right in with students.

The manufacturer is Sector Z, but other manufacturers have similar products.

Backpacks are everywhere these days. A little foam in the pack will protect your computer from most dings. Good Luck
