Since you are a guy, I'll pass on my husband's view, if I may. He said he never felt as "free" as he did once he was married. This had surprized me at the time, but he explained that he could be himself all the time (not that he was fake before, but you know what I mean), and could truly open up with the one he loves (me!).
I think movies and tv sometimes make marriage out to be this confining, prison-like thing, where it is nothing like that at all! You don't have the stresses you have when you are single, with dating and all the rest. With marriage you are always with the one you love, and every year you learn and grow together, always have someone at your side and some one who supports you no matter what. It's the unconditional love which is the best of all!

Divorce is liberating for people who are in a bad marriage. Not all marriages are bad though! Some people are lucky enough to find their perfect mate and make it work for their whole lifetime.

Marriage is VERY LIBERATING, when you have a partner, who really truly allows you to grow in life, not with their expectations of who you should become, or how you should be, or how you handle things, etc. Media feeds on the travesty of divorce.. loves it,, we're would all the talk shows be without it, where would the Viagra be, the girls gone wild, the Internet porn, ... whatever, insert here ___________ the plethora of reasons.
Foundation of marriage is weakened everyday in so many ways,, it's become a joke. For me, it's one of the blessings in my life!

no it is failure...a horrible thing to experience! Movies are a huge part of the media that weakens the foundation and fundamentals of marriage...for a socialist view is not usually the route that aids in maintaining good relationships of any sort. Only the Holy Bible can fully map out the direction and decisions that are truly worth while and rewarding.

The idea that I get to spend the rest of my life with the woman I love and admire is better than any 'liberation' I know of.

Its similar to how TV commercials always make men to be foolish and incapable ( like mom leaves for the day and dad burns food and loses kids) Don't get your views from movies, I love being married.
