She was on maternity leave, and then her dad passed away. And to respond the first guy's answer, that was Alex Cabot, the old ADA, whose death was faked. She is never coming back. She made a few guest appearances, but her character is pretty much gone.

Mariska was on materity leave *Olivia was sent to work undercover w/ the FBI..explaining her abscence* Then sadly, her father, Mickey Hargitay passed away recently, so she took more time to mourn, but she will be back this week :)

Yes. I just saw a promo for the show saying she returns. (yes, I'm watching the Dallas game on NBC....lol)
She might have taken time off ...her father passed away recently..

Yes, she's coming back. She took some time off to have a baby and then her father died. She'll be back this week.
