Why do they call it that?

In the late 1980's, Chris Evert wore a bracelet with a line of diamonds all around it during a tennis match. When it fell off, she asked the officials to stop the match so she could search for it. Since then, bracelets made of a line of diamonds have been called tennis bracelets.

Tennis used to be for rich people... and a tennis bracelet usually is made up of diamonds... Maybe rich people used to wear it while they played tennis

because rich girls at the country club wear diamond bracelets while they play tennis.

i think it was billie jean king who wore a bracelet while
playing tennis and it fell off during a tournament.
